Whiny Wednesday

Welcome to the first installment of Whiny Wednesdays!  Thank you Carolyn Renee for helping me select the title!

  • When does your "To Do" list ever get small enough that it actually fits into ONE day??
  • Shorter days = crabby me!!
  • Why is it that just as our four chickens start laying eggs, the days are so short that we only get one egg one day, maybe two the next, then one egg....oh, and let me guess, when spring hits, and the days get longer, they will go into molt and we will still only get one egg here, couple there....maybe we need more chickens....
  • I want a Dunkin Donuts near me!!!!!

It's ironic....I usually have quite a list of whiny things, but drew a total blank when I started writing this post!!!  Hmmm....maybe this will help cure me? :-)

I think I like Whiny Wednesdays! We all need to just "get it out" and complain about things, and this way, we HAVE To complain, because it's Whiny Wednesday!

My whines (is that how you spell it? I'm a horrid speller) for Wednesday would be:

Less milk even with MORE grain!
Less eggs, but still have to feed the chickens!
Cleaned almost all this morning & it looks like I did absolutely nothing!

Be damned, you vile to-do list, die, die DIE!!

I will wish you a DD close enough to make a run each and every day!!! At risk of getting lynched, I have 3 all within 10 miles! Maybe IL isn't such a bad place afterall? ;)

My Whiny is how on earth is it that I am constantly moving yet nothing seems to get done? I HATE that.

I feel you on the egg situation! Just as mine got old enough to start laying steadily, the days got shorter. So now it's one here, one there, nothing dependable. So frustrating!

My chickens aren't laying well either. Of course mine are older than yours and going through their second molt. Last winter though, I got a steady of supply of eggs. Maybe your production will pick up again soon too.

Love "Whiney Wednesdays"!A place and a time just to get it all out there.

MY to-do lists just keep getting longer and there's stuff on there from way back. I definitely over estimate how much I can get done in a day :)

That's why we ended up buying our other 7 hens. Hubby says he thinks12 is a good number because you can cope with egg slowdown and the loss of a couple of hens (in our case 2 of ours keep going broody)and still be okay. We get far too many eggs now, but our neighbours are more than happy to receive free eggs here and there. Surprisingly, we are still getting the same amount of eggs from our hens even though the weather has been horrible lately.

Soounds like we are all feeling the same pains!! Misery sure does love company :-)

We are thinking about getting a couple more pullets - chicken math is starting to apply now LOL That way, we should have just the right amount of eggs through the winter. And the coop is large enough to add 2 or 3 more. The run is certainly big enough. It would just cost more to feed them. Then again, the power bill will be cut in half here shortly with the a/c off, so it shouldn't be too bad. Will let you know if we decide to do it.
